“I felt immensely proud to see our year six children stand up at the front of the auditorium at the London Transport Museum, with the spotlights on them, and deliver their presentations in front of an audience of over one hundred adults – a fantastic achievement for them all but extra special for those who at the beginning of the Challenge, were reluctant to put their hand up in class. The children have had an opportunity to reflect on the Challenge and it was very interesting to look back at the skills framework for the Challenge with them after the finals event. They were very clear about the skills that they felt they had developed and those that they would like to continue to improve.

I feel very strongly that it has enriched the curriculum for the children and enabled them to develop in so many ways.”

"Captain Kandu" Junior Challenge

The "Captain Kandu" Challenge is designed for 9 to 11 year olds in primary education and runs for between 6 and 8 weeks, tasking children to come up with a classroom resource to educate other young people based around social issues such as health and well-being, (healthy eating, exercise, physical and emotional welfare) the environment (littering, graffiti etc) and and anti-social behaviour (bullying, alcohol abuse, gang intimidation etc). The challenge begins with a fun and interactive launch event and culminates in a celebratory presentation evening where the children present their ideas.

Please see our case study page for further details.

“I have got lots of things out of this challenge like how to speak in front of a crowd of people that I don’t know and I’ve have learnt more about anti-social behaviour” Parris.

“I’ve got a lot out of this but mainly I’ve learned how to meet deadlines and work with business people.” Grace.
